Journey from Tombs to Golconda Fort!!!

We entered into Golconda Fort around 06:30 pm, it was dusky and we entered and started clicking photographs until we reached the clapping portico. This structure is marked by high raised ceiling and arched opening, it works as a signaling device to communicate with the persons located at the Baradari which is located on the opposite side. We came across the sprawling garden inside, here we see a board indicating with arrow sign to show us the way for sound & light show. Due to summer we were carrying water bottles and went inside crossing huge entrances.

This is the place where the show starts!!!!!

There were many foreigners who come here to visit this show at the Fort. We went in and sat on chairs that were arranged by the organizers for executive class ticket holders. Meanwhile organizers distributed odomos cream on sharing basis for the safety from mosquito bites.

What exactly is this sound & light show ? A big question on our faces???

All our Questions were answered after watching the show. It narrates us about the history of Golconda Fort with lights and voice over of Bollywood living legend Amithab Bachchan, which takes us back to the period of Qutb Shahi Dynasty. The narration is done in such a way that it takes us back in time. The show is done in such a way that it looks as if we are watching the Qutb Shahi’s history in front of us.

The show starts with a Song sung by famous Ghazal singer with his mesmerizing golden voice Mr. Jagjit Singh at his best & later voice over of Bollywood Actor Amithab Bachchan steals the show.

Shocking & surprised !!!!

Golconda was Famous for Diamond Market. Koh-i-Noor Diamond (meaning Mountain light) was found during the regime of Seventh King Sultan Abdullah Qutb Shah (1626-1672) at a place called kolluru near river Krishna. Mohammed Sayeed Meer Jumla who joined Mughals as rabble in 1656 A.D presented it to the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan.  It was in the treasure of the Mughals, during the time of Mohammed Shah 1739 AD when there was a massacre in Delhi by Nadir Shah, the later took it to Iran  (Persia).

Journey of Koh-i-noor Diamond from India to England!!!

From Shah Shuja Peshawari, it traveled to Punjab (in 1649 A.D) then traveled to Maharaja Ranjit Singh (in 1852 A.D). Dilip Singh son of Maharaja gave this to Queen of Victoria, it stands still best in the crown of the Kings of England.

Briefly about Golconda Fort  !!!!

Golconda is one of the most famous citadel in Indian history that lies about 11kms away from Mehdipatnam. Inside the door step at Golconda, if we clap it leaves a resounding noise that reverberates all around. There are various edifices are placed to transmit sound to different parts of the fort. Golconda Fort originally belonged to Kakatiyan rulers of Warangal. In 1363 it was occupied by Bahmanis Sultanate after the demise of Kakatiyan rulers. In 1518 Qutb Shahi Kings overtook and made it as a capital & ruled it till 1687A.D. During this period the fort was extended and strengthened. Later Mughal emperor Aurangazeb conquered it in 1687 and made it Asaf Jah subedar to Deccan. Later Asaf Jah declared himself as an independent king and named it as “Nizam-ul-mulk”. Since then Nizams held sway over Hyderabad until 1948 A.D.

The sound & light show at Golconda Fort is one of the most popular attractions in Hyderabad, Ultimately being a Hyderabadi !!!!!! Learnt some history of Deccan at the end of the day.

End of show

In short I can say it as Simply Stupendous !!!!!!!
well spent a day with History lessons.
